Letter from Finas E. Cummins to his father, Noah H. Cummins, while being held Prisoner during the Civil War.

Prison No. 5 ___64
Camp Chase, Ohio Oct 20th 1865

Dear Father

Your kind favor of the 11th ins. reached me on yesterday. It was read with great pleasure by me, as it was the first news that I have had from home since I have been at this place I have been having chills but have gotten well now and feel pretty stout again.

You wrote me that you would send me money to buy clothes with. You need not send any until I write again. I cannot write you what to do about my release. Yes, I think I will know more___? , then I can tell you more.

I wish to come home and stay there. Noah Oliver is at this place. His health is good.

Sends his respects to you and all of his acquaintances.

Give my love to all at home. Write soon,
Yours Affectionately,
F. E. Cummins
I was very sorry to hear of the death of Charlie Salyers.
