27. James Town

In 1745, James was in Captain Thomas Cheary's Co., Col. Choate's Regiment to Louisburg in the French and Indian War.

On 12 Dec 1748, James Town bought for 150 pounds 70 acres of land in Cold Spring (near Belchertown), Hampshire Co., Massachusetts from Walter Wakefield, Jr. (Hampshire Deed Book 2:67). The Towns moved there and joined in 1756 the Congregational Church at Belchertown.

James enlisted in 1758 to fight in the French and Indian War No. 2. He died in Greenbush, New York while returning home in November of that year (Historical Sketch of Congregational Church). On 6 Dec 1758, Lt. Jonathan Graves, Abner Smith, and Israel Cowl, all of Cold Spring (Probate Record, Vol. 9:37). In 1759, inventory was returned and the estate filed by Anne Town, administrator (Hampshire Co. Probate Vol 9:182).

After the death of his father, son Elisha was born on 14 Apr 1759 and church records show Anne soon moved to Charlton where her parents were living. On 9 Dec 1762, she married John Wyman of Oxford (Oxford VR p63), and they would eventually become parents of three sons, John, Jr., William and Daniel (Charlton VR p51).

Ann Blood

Anne was named as one of the heir's "Anna Wymon" in her father Richard Blood's will proved 5 Apr 1768 (Probate A:6089).

In 1790, Sarah and Ebenezer Collins lived in Middlefield, Hampshire Co and had family of 2 males 16+, 1 male under 16 and 2 females (1790 census p 117).
