Ada Frances Henson

In a diary entry that Berta made, she said she was nine years old when her mother died. I don't find Berta in the 1910 census. I wonder who she went to live with?

In the Texas Death Index, 1903-2000, there is listed:
Mrs. A.E. Littlepage, Erath County DOD: 9-3-1909, 25732, however her DOB is listed as 1835. This woman's death was in Selden, Erath, Texas. She was born in Georgia.

52. Berte Littlepage

From a "Daily diary of Berte L. Lee - Sunday January 1, 1984"; a diary written by Berta
Littlepage Lee and in the possession of Velda Maxine Littlepage:

Sunday Jan 1st, 1984
New Years Day
Today Jan 1st was my mother's birthday. I don't know how old she would have
been as I was only 9 yrs old when she passed away. We lived in Dallas, Texas
then. My sister Mattie was the oldest then my brother Emery Virgel, then me.
I have a little brother dead Joseph - he passed away in infancy. My sister is
buried in the South Park Cemetery from NiD(?)ay funeral Home. My brother is
buried in Forest Park Cemetery in Veterans Section. I will be intombed in a
crypt at Foust Park Cemetery at 6900 Lawndale Phone 928-5141.
So much for that. Today was about the Xmas. I spent it __?__ other than
Edna my good friend - I did fix dinner for us - I had the usual black eyed peas
cabbage - mashed potatoes - pork bone and fresh tomatoes. Edna stayed with me
until about 4 PM. then I spent the rest of the day looking at TV. I got to bed
about 12 - I stayed up until then watching Johnny Carson. The weather was not
quite so cold. We did have water for a change - as I was without it for
nearly 3 days. We always have something to be grateful for. I went to bed
about 12:00.

I have a war ration book from World War II with the name: Josie Alberta Lee. Is this Bertie's real name?

Omer Ivey Lee

In his obituary (at the age of 51), it states that he and his wife came to Texas in 1928 and, about 16 years ago, made their home in Houston, Texas.

45. Claiborn Price Littlepage

Claiborn (listed as Clayburn) is listed in the 1884-85, 1886-87 and the 1901 Dallas City Directories. In 1884-85, he is listed as a painter. In 1886-87 he is listed as a clerk for J.F. Barbier. In 1901, he is listed as a teamster for Moore & Rawlins. In the 1910 city directory, Mary Littlepage is listed as a widow of C.P. Littlepage. Some of the information on the family of Claiborn Price Littlepage came from a letter from Mary L Littlepage, wife of Gordon Ray Littlepage.

In some old papers belonging to the Littlepage/Worley family, I found the following note: Mary L Littlepage, daughter of C.P. and M.E. Littlepage, born 20 Sep 1885 and died 12 Oct 1887.

46. Charles Lee Littlepage

Appears in 1900 Dallas County, TX census.

I don't know if this is Charles Lee Littlepage and wife or not:
Births in Dallas 1904
C. L. and Bertha Littlepage, Lemmon avenue, a girl.

A letter from Mrs. Edward Wilson, granddaughter of Charles Littlepage dated 20 Nov 1980, written to Jeff Atchley:
"Grandfather Charles Lee Littlepage was quite sick when Adeli Stephenson ran for president - as a matter of fact he died that following year of cancer. He rose from what was literally his death bed to go vote against that foul descendant of his father's first wife's relatives who were Damn Yankees - they had moved north of the Mason Dixon line and if Grandpa could help it none of that low down bunch was going to be president of his country - he rousted out the family too to vote against Adeli. I've always had a feeling Grandpa beat Adeli by sheer force of will. Was Cinderella Johnson related to that Stevenson family? I know we were carefully educated about the foulness of Damn Yankees who kicked the first Mrs Littlepage while she was pregnant causing her miscarriage or early delivery and her death in the process thereof....."

Berte Joffre

Per 1900 Dallas County census, both of her parents were born in France.
