1. Garrett Gray
The locations of the children of Garrett and Lydia in 1803 is taken from the Raymond "Gray" Book. I have seen Lydia referred to as 'Hannah'.
Our Garrett Gray is thought to be the Gerritje Grau/Gray born 1722 in Somerset NJ and died around 1791 in VA or SC. He was married to Ellydea (Lydia). She supposedly died after 1799 in SC. It was their son, Garrett Gray who was born 1755 in Essex County NJ and died 1827 in Caldwell Co Kentucky, who was a Revolutionary War soldier.
The ancestry of Gerritje Grau (born 1722) from several researchers (from his father backwards) is thought to be:
1. Johannes Grau/Gray born about 1699 in Germany, died 21 November 1752 in NJ. Married Antje Sponheiimer about 1721 in Somerset NJ. She was born abt 1699 in Germany.
2. Gerlach Grau born 22 Nov 1667 in Rudersbey, Jagstkreis, Wuerttemburg, Germany and died 1711 in New York City, New York. He married Anna Catherina ______. She was born 1671 in Hessen-Nassau, Prussia and died 19 April 1734 in New York City, New York. According to one researcher, Anna Catharina Grau age 40 arrived in New York City in 1710 on the ship Wijnhaven which left Rotterdam 12 Aug 1709. The fare to America was 100 Florins [approx $48.00] each. There was no discount for the children. - Per George J Gray
3. Johannes Grau was born 4 Mar 1638/1639 in Rudersberg, Tagskreis, Wuerttemburg, Germany and died 4 Mar 1687/88 in Wuerttemburg, Germany. He married Anna Katharine Zeider 20 Nov 1662 in Rudersberg, Wuerttemburg, Germany, daughter of Johann Zietler. She was born Abt 1641 in Rudersbey, Jagstkreis, Wuerttemburg Germany. [Rudersberg is situated in Wieslauftal approximately 30 km east of Stuttgart Germany.
4. Mathaeus Grau was born 14 Oct 1610 in Wuerttemburg, Germany and died 7 Jan 1658/59 in Wuerttemburg, Germany. He married Katharine Lachenmayer 5 Nov 1631 in Wuerttemburg, Germany. She was born 8 Jun 1609 in Wuerttemburg, Germany. [Grau is the German spelling for Gray. Graw is the Dutch spelling.]
5. Matthaeus Grau was born abt 1577 in Oberdorf, Jagstkreis, Wuerttemburg, Germany and died 4 Nov 1622 in Rudersbey, Jagstkreis, Wuerttemburg, Germany. He married Maria Rapp 4 Nov 1609 in Wuerttemburg, Germany. She was born abt 1588 in Lindental, Jagstkreis, Wuerttemburg, Germany.
6. Leonhard Grau was born 1545 in Wuerttemburg, Germany and died 4 Aug 1635 in Wuerttemburg, Germany. He married Barbara Brigel. She was born 1548 in Wuerttemburg, Germany.
7. Jakob Grau was born 1519 in Wuerttemburg, Germany.
