Charles Thorpe Payne
SLAUGHTERS -- Charles Thorpe Payne, 71, Slaughters, died at 9:50 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, 2008, at his residence.
He was a member of Slaughters Baptist Church and Slaughters Masonic Lodge. He was a Lab Analyst with TVA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thorpe and Virginia Ward Payne.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Payne; two sons, Michael Payne of Slaughters and Tony Payne of Decatur, Ill.; one sister, Carolyn Bellamy of Birmingham, Ala.; one brother, Danny Payne of Slaughters; five grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Slaughters Baptist Church. Bro. Bill Crabtree will officiate. Burial will be in Onton Cemetery.
Friends may call after 9 a.m. today at the church.
Pallbearers will be the Deacons of Slaughters Baptist Church.
Tomblinson Funeral Home Slaughters-Hanson Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
William Y. Tandy: Bill (known as Daddy Bo ) by his grandchildren, Laura and Coley (Tandy Nicole) spent 30 years in the Army Air Force and the US Air force. He served in Europe during WWII, going in on Omaha Beach, through the Battle of the Bulge, and on to Berlin. He continued his Air Force career and later served in Vietnam (Pleiku).
Obituary:
William Young Tandy, 84, of Marietta, Ga., died Sunday Feb. 12, 2006A U.S. Army Air Force veteran, who served in the European Theater of Operations during World War II, the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War, where his specialties were rifle sharpshooter and radar technician. He was awarded five Bronze Stars and two Purple Hearts in addition to other commendations. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars for 60 years.
Survivors include his wife, MIldred Tandy of Marietta, Ga.; two daughters, Karen Sue Tandy and Tara Magnolia, both of Boston, Mass.; a daughter and son-in-law, Cindy Lee Tandy and Michael Joseph Quilling of Dallas, Texas; and two graddaughters, Laura Loraine Quillilng and Tandy Nicole "Coley" Quilling, both of Dallas, Texas.
Graveside services for Mr. Tandy will conducted Friday, Feb. 17, at 11 a.m. at Eddy Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
The Rev. Leslie Joyce will officiate.
Military graveside services are scheduled.
Morgan's Funeral Home of Princeton is in charge of arrangements.
