This is the text of a letter received by Pat Oliver 13 Jan 1971 from Willie Russell Parrent: Return address: W. R. Parrent, 302 E John St, Campbell, MO 63933. Campbell MO Jan 13 - 1971. Mr Willis P. Oliver Dear Sir, I have before me a letter dated Dec 5, 1970 that you sent my brother George Burl Parrent. Concerning the Parrent family in general. Well my name is Willie Russell Parrent. Everyone calls me Russell which is OK with me. I was born Dec 2, 1900. Yes I am seventy. I wish I could help you. I will try and tell you a few things I know about it and you might be able to put some ends together and come up with something. My father was born in Kentucky somewhere between Paducah and Central City. He seemed to Remember more about Eddyville than anywhere. His father was Linn Parrent who had married Julia Gillis. They moved to Missouri when their children were all small or young. My Dad's name was Henry Wilson Parrent. A brother George W Parrent. A brother Robert J (Bob) Parrent, A sister Carry Parrent. A sister Ellen Parrent. Their father's name was Linn Parrent his wife's name was Julia. Now all the Parrents out here have grandchildren. My grandmother Julia had a nephew named I think Henry Gillis also from Kentucky. My Dad and Mother was married in 1889 here at Campbell. My Mother's maiden name was Palsgrove and all her family all came here from Tennessee. As for other dates I am blank. I have never seen any account of dates of names. My Dad and Mother only had names and dates of their immediate family. I visited in Kentucky in 1917. There was a dear old man at that time his name was as we all called him old Uncle Louis Parrent and David (Dave) Parrent and Linar Parrent and Sidney Parrent and a cousin of ours Luther EAST and others I don't remember. Yes a lot of them. They were wonderful people. I know a Homer Parrent who works in a bank in Hormersville, MO. I have heard my dad and uncles talk of the McCrackens. That is all I know. Sorry. My father died in 1959. He was 83. He was born in 1876 - he was 22 when he married my mother. So the best I can figure the Parrents came here in about 1850 to 1865. Could be 1870. The brothers and sisters were all born in KY. Dad said he was real small. Old Uncle Louis Parrent and his sister Aunt Gus moved here about 1906 or 10. Only stayed a short time and moved back to Eddyville. I wish I could be of some help but I am just not old enough ha ha. I hope I have not messed up your thinking on this matter. I am proud you are making a try at it. Say I know someone who started out to do the same thing. His name was CLEARANCE Gillis. I think he lives in KY. He has relatives in Bell City MO running a cafe and an aunt Mrs. Dora Day who lives in CLARKTON, MO who is in her late 80's. Hoping you the best of luck. W R Russell Parrent 302 E John St, Campbell MO 63933. Note from Pat Oliver. I wrote back to him a couple of times, but never heard from him again.

Claude killed himself.
198. Ethel Bigham
Ethel was crippled. She never married.
He was on a hand car with some of his relatives; they were arguing over something. They had forgotten about the fast freight train. When they heard it, someone yelled: JUMP. After awhile, someone asked if everyone was ok and that is when they discovered Tildon had broken his neck. I don't know if the train hit the car and killed him or if his neck was broken when he jumped. His monument reads "killed in a freight train and hand car collision on the ICRR". He has a heart shaped monument at Saratoga Cemetery. The name Parent is spelled with two r's also. For a long time I believed that anyone who spelled their name Parrent was not related to us, but that is not true.
She was called granny Work. She loved flowers. She used to clean house for Mrs. Jones for $.50 a day.
Per Emma Lou Tabor, Mary Lula Holt and Isaac Workman had six children with only one living to adulthood. Child Charles lived to the age of 62. Daughter Mar Lillian died at age 9.
200. Marvin Adois Parrent
He left home when he was 13. First he lived with his uncle Wallace in Central City. Later he moved to Paducah and his aunt Mary Bingham's husband Stonewall got him a job on the railroad as a water boy. Later he was a pipe fitter because he was so small. This Aunt Mary is Tildon's sister.
