In the 1880 census, the information for Matilda shows that both her parents were born in SC.
Speculation is that his first wife was a Thornton from SC.
Mordeciai Fowler gave consent for Alsey Fowler to marry Robert Harper (bond 18 Feb 1822, Caldwell County, KY). John Bouland was security and Robert Harper was of age. Alsey is not listed in the property transfer to the heirs of Mordeciai, so she must have died without leaving children before the 1850's, OR she could have been another daughter of William Fowler?
